Opt to have your meal broiled with a
buttery lemon sauce, cajun with creole
spices or Boat Mate-style, flavoured
with garlic-curry butter. Good humoured staff will be happy to assist if
you can’t make up your mind. Although
local and imported sea fare dominates
the menu, the restaurant does offer
landlubber dishes and a separate list
of vegetarian options.
Lobster Pot is located on Bermu-
diana Road about a five-minute walk
from the Hamilton Ferry Terminal, on
the edge of the city. It’s been in this
same spot for over 40 years and has
been passed down from generation
to generation as a dining experience
that seafood lovers of all ages can
appreciate and adore. First time guests
will be struck by the nautical decor,
which features a variety of fishing
photographs, anchors, hooks, nets and
even boat oars that decorate the walls-
not to mention an authentic lobster
pot. Many of these relics and historical
pieces have been on display since the
Lobster Pot first opened in 1973.
True to its name, this restaurant’s
best entree is the fresh Bermuda lob-
ster, when in season, or the Maine lob-
ster, year-round. The pan-fried rockfish
with bananas and almonds is another
enduring favourite as are the weekly
variety of lunch and dinner specials.
If you’re really hungry try the seafood
lover’s feast, it’s fit for a king and
includes Maine lobster, mussels, mahi
mahi goujons and shrimp simmered
in a homemade saffron stock. Or treat
yourself to an appetizer bowl of Lob-
ster Pot’s famous fish chowder, laced
with black rum and sherry peppers and
is among the best on the island.
During the week, Lobster Pot’s patio
seating is a preferred spot for business
meetings and date nights. On the week-
ends, it often hosts groups of friends
and special events. The fully stocked
bar is equipped with a flat screen TV
and can attract quite a crowd during
major sporting events. As you’d expect,
a variety of everyone’s favourite beers,
