White Horse also hosts very entertain-
ing karaoke and quiz nights during
the year, with food specials and happy
hour prices available for all to enjoy.
The pub’s bar list is routinely updat-
ed with exciting featured wines, both by
the glass and by the bottle; feel free to
ask for a recommendation, or you can
choose from one of their 25 signature
cocktails, like the ‘Pink Sand Margarita’,
which is truly a favourite and a must-try.
Likewise, there’s a very wide selection
of draft and bottled beers, both familiar
and international, as well as a number
of indulgent frozen cocktails, fruity mar-
tinis and refreshing margaritas. These
drinks pair perfectly with one of the
kitchen’s signature appetizers, offered
exclusively at White Horse. Our top pick
is the Blooming Bermuda Onion, which
is generously seasoned, browned until
golden and served with the house
tzatsiki sauce.
Reservations are not required.
Food: 11am-10pm, Bar: 11am-1am
There are a variety of island-inspired
items too, if you’re feeling adventur
ous - we recommend conch fritters,
avocado rolls or their popular fish tacos.
Meanwhile, White Horse regulars will
agree that the restaurant’s homemade
signature burgers and famous fish and
chips are in a class of their own.
White Horse is particularly unique in
its locale and decor. Surrounded by the
cobblestoned streets and century-worn
architecture of Bermuda’s first town,
St. George’s, the restaurant was first
built in 1782. Although it has since been
renovated in 2003 and 2015, it still feels
very much as though you have stepped
back in time. Rich cedar boards and
nautical decorations adorn the walls, and
a traditional brick fireplace harks back to
simpler days of old. White Horse is conveniently located across from the Town Hall
and the infamous Ducking Stool, which
was once used to punish female gossips.
Nowadays, King’s Square is a popular
gathering place for locals and tourists and
is home to various events, walkabouts
and open markets throughout the year.
On fair weather days, dine out on
the shady, spacious patio - it’s very
kid-friendly and has the added bonus
of being waterside, with schools of fish
swimming nearby, hopefully awaiting
leftovers. Or try their new upper patio
overlooking the historic King’s Square
and Ducking Stool. There is also a bistro style, waterfront patio area where
you can dine under the umbrellas or
choose to soak up the sun. During the
day, watch as boats of all sizes putter
through the harbour and groups of
locals bait hooks and cast lines off the
bridge. With an inside and outside bar
that’s open until late, White Horse is
a popular spot for sports enthusiasts
who gather to celebrate big games
and close wins. And the sports bar provides several large screen TV’s, so you
don’t miss that game winning moment.
